CALLING ALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND REPRESENTATIVES:
HOST A COMMUNITY DAY OF ACTION IN TENDRING!

The Community Safety Partnership are encouraging local community groups in Tendring to plan and host their own Community Day of Action (CDoA), aimed at tackling local issues of concern.

The CDoA builds upon the success of Street Action Days that have been held throughout the District on a monthly basis. These days bring together a wide range of partners who take to the streets to raise awareness of pressing local community safety issues as identified by the residents and conduct practical needs assessments to ensure support is given to those in the community that require it.
Successful CDoA applications empower community leaders in Tendring to make a difference to the communities they serve. So whether you feel that your area needs to address issues related to crime, ASB or improve the quality of life for those within the community, a CDoA could be the start of addressing these issues and hopefully leave a long-lasting legacy in your area.
What does a legacy look like?

We would like to ensure that the CDoA leave behind a positive impact on the community we are working for. Whether that is an area looked after by members of the community, community tidy days, Neighbourhood Watch schemes or local groups that can continue the great work started on the day - it’s entirely up to you! The CDoA shouldn’t be seen as a one off, but as a springboard to launch events that support the community and build upon the work carried out on the day.

Application:

To make a successful application, groups will need to provide detailed information on the issues that they would like to be addressed within their community, details of their community group or volunteers and the legacy that will remain following the Community Day of Action.

Priority will be given to those applications which can demonstrate they will be working towards the Community Safety Partnerships priorities for 2018/19;

  • Tackling anti-social behaviour and acquisitive crime
  • Protecting vulnerable people from hidden harm
  • Reducing violence and knife crime
After the closing date, all applications will be reviewed by a panel made up from the Responsible Authorities Group (RAG) and a decision will be made on the successful application.

A Community Day of Action will then take place in the successful community later in the year. The Tendring Community Safety Partnership will be on hand to support community members in taking responsibility of the project, initiative or scheme that is to be left following a day of action, whilst outcomes from the day of action will be used to determine and support what further action is required, then allocating resources appropriately.

Successful applicants will also be able to apply to the Community Safety Partnership for up to £2000 to support their CDoA and ongoing legacy, subject to a further decision making panel.
