We’re proud to announce the launch of the Tendring Women’s Safety Charter - our commitment to ensuring women and girls feel safe, supported and respected wherever they go.
Unveiled at the Princes Theatre, the charter was developed by Tendring District Council in partnership with Brand Elect and women’s safety expert Karen Whybro, funded through the Safer Streets programme. It follows extensive consultation where women and girls shared their experiences of feeling unsafe in public spaces, from low-level harassment to behaviours that create fear or discomfort.
Now, we’re calling on businesses and organisations across Tendring to join us.
By pledging their support, they’ll receive free training and guidance to help staff recognise inappropriate behaviour, respond effectively, and create environments where women feel truly welcome.
Research shows that women are more likely to visit places with visible zero‑tolerance policies on harassment - and we want that standard across our district.
